WHAT IS BODY SUGARING?
Body sugaring is an ancient art of hair removal using a completely natural paste made from lemon, sugar and water. It looks like honey, but thicker.
The paste is molded to your skin against the direction of the hair growth, and then quickly flicked off – removing the sugar paste, extracting your unwanted hair, and collecting dead skin cells.
This technique extracts the hair in the direction of its growth, so there is less breakage, less ingrown hairs and minimal discomfort for you!
Eliminate ingrown hair
Prevent new ingrown hair
Successfully treat all skin types and colours
Extracts all hair colours and textures
Improve skin texture and tone
SUGARING WILL NOT:
Damage the skin
Burn the skin
Promote double dipping of the pot or cross-contamination
Cause ingrown hair
HOW LONG SHOULD MY HAIR BE TO SUGAR?
The hair should ideally be ¼ inch in length.
Think of a grain of rice or sharpened pencil lead for best results. Usually about 2-3 weeks post shaving and 4-6 weeks of regrowth (after sugaring)
for optimal results.
This of course, can range from person to person.
Longer hair may need to be trimmed to prevent unnecessary pain while applying sugar.
Please allow us to do the trimming for you so we can make sure the length is ideal.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE FOR THE HAIR TO GROW BACK?
In most cases we suggest 4 to 6 weeks for total regrowth.
It is best to wait and have as much growth back before your next session. You can sugar sooner but you risk switching up the hair cycles, constantly playing catch up and not having a smooth outcome.
Every area of the body, skin type and hair type is different so keep that in mind and be sure to ask at your visit.
Exfoliate the skin a minimum of 2 days prior.
Do not exfoliate day of or the day after your treatment.
Do not use any body lotion the day of your service.
If you're getting your underarms done, do not wear deodorant the day of your treatment.
Please avoid applying any products to the skin/hair before your treatment. Also avoid facial or body creams and oils before treatment as it will leave a residue on the skin and clog the pores, making it much more difficult for hair to be removed.
For women, be sure to book your appointment after your menstrual cycle to avoid increased sensitivity.
Avoid direct contact with heat, such as tanning, or excess sweating before appointment.
Avoid self tanning products 48 hours prior to the appointment as well as the day of the service.
Please avoid direct contact with heat such as tanning, hot showers/baths and steam rooms as well as exfoliating 24 hours after to treatment.
Avoid harsh soaps, self tanning products, moisturizers, oils, perfumes and deodorants for 24 hours after receiving treatment.
Refrain from vigorous activities causing excess perspiration, as it may result in irritation.
It is recommended you exfoliate a few days following your visit and continue 2-3 times a week to remove dead skin cells and avoid ingrowns. A number of tools and products can be used however we suggest exfoliating gloves or body brush in the shower work best.
